Here at Crabapple Academy we have an artist that we study and celebrate every month. That artist is the springboard for the weekly themes, activities and community projects. No class is limited to a specific age, rather movement from class to class reflects developmental milestones. Each child moves up as they become ready.
We have activities with objectives daily, such as art projects, science experiences, outdoor gross motor use of the body and the use of fine motor skills. Children are learning what they enjoy and what interests them, and are given new challenges and experiences to grow their range of skills. We give them space and materials to play and to actively discover their individual interests and passions.
Serving babies as young as six weeks, this room is completely individualized and works on the schedule each child by the parents. We work at your child's pace on milestone development, offering guidance when needed along the way.
Once little ones are walking, off the bottle, and down to one nap per day, they join our Junior Toddler class to begin a more academic school day. Here, they begin to learn the fundamentals of classroom life and social interaction.
To join the Senior Toddler classroom, we look for the children to become more verbal and ready to sit and participate for longer periods of time. Creating art, participating in circle time and using the imagination are encouraged daily.
Our Junior Preschoolers join this class around the age of three. Our teachers work with them to completely potty train each child. Small groups and centers are introduced. Circle time is lengthened, giving a firmer foundation to our core curriculum. Students are introduced to observing the natural world (weather/seasons) and take time to dance, run, and gain coordination.
Once a child is fully potty trained and developmentally ready, our Senior Preschool is their next step. This class offers a strong focus on pre-literacy and pre-math activities through small group rotations throughout the day. Social skills and classroom skills are emphasized. Listening and taking turns to speak when in a group is introduced.
PreK Prep is tailored to give our students skills they will need for our Pre K program. Children begin working on fine motor skills such as writing, more complex art and tracing letters. Circle time introduces more complex ideas, such as monthly and weekly themes and examples.
We offer two lottery funded PreK classes. Students enrolled in our center are guaranteed a spot, and we also draw from a lottery list each spring to fill any open spots.
We currently serve children from Crabapple Crossing and Sweet Apple Elementary schools in our After School program. Students are transported from their school to our center, where they receive homework support, a snack, and structured play time.
Each summer we offer weekly camps for school-aged children. These camps traditionally include multiple in-house field trips each week, as well as plenty of engaging, theme-based activities to keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer.
